TUNISIA CAFE CUP Tunisian people have been waiting for 12 years until their national football team, which is well known as “The Eagles of Carthage” finally participated again in a FIFA World Cup. The participation in the year 2018 was the 5th time in the history of the Tunisian national team and the entire nation was filled with excitement and joy because of that achievement. And though the disappointment was big when people had to see that the Eagles of Carthage have been eliminated within the preliminary round and did not reach the round of 16, Tunisians continued to watch the matches till the final took place: each one in his own way. The broadcasting rights for all matches of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Tunisia have been acquired by Bein Sports, a Qatari network of sports TV channels. The annual subscription and receiver bundle of Bein Sports costs at least twice of the guaranteed monthly minimum wage in Tunisia. Therefore most people cannot afford the luxury to watch the Fifa World Cup at home. Lucky are those who are able to attend one of the few public viewing events in Tunisia where the World Cup matches can be seen on giant screens. But no problem: Tunisian people have solved that in a very elegant way, because nearly all Tunisian Cafes are equipped with a Bein Sports receiver as well as subscription. And therefore they only had to go to a close-by Cafe for being able to watch the World Cup matches within the great atmosphere of the Tunisian Cafes, whose number is instantly growing: An inside joke says, that in Tunisia every 10 meters can be found a Cafe and in-between two Cafes can be found another one. During the entire FIFA World Cup 2018 Tunisians have lived on a very special pace: inside as well as outside Cafes.
